IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat and was created in 1988. IRC is a way for people to talk to each other online. It allows for group conferencing with many users, as well as private messaging between two users. There are over a thousand IRC networks to chat on, with hundreds of thousands of channels covering thousands of chat topics.
